Opportunity !! Workshop on ''Zoonotic Disease Pandemic Preparedness for South Asia, Using One Health Platform''
A great opportunity for Researchers and Specialists involved in Public Health, Veterinary Science, Biomedical Research, Wildlife Research and Epidemiologists to be a part of the workshop entitled "Workshop on Zoonotic Disease Pandemic Preparedness for South Asia, Using One Health Platform" 
The emergence of SARS in 2003, the re-emergence of HPAI in 2004, outbreaks of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome corona virus (MERS-CoV) and H7N9 influenza, and the recent Ebola epidemic in West Africa, demonstrate the threat of emerging and re-emerging diseases.
These events also highlight that the world is far from fully prepared for large-scale health emergencies. Coordinated global capacity and domestic capacity to prevent and reduce the likelihood of these events -- to detect health threats early, and to respond quickly and effectively -- is needed, but some countries lack the necessary health capacities. The goal of this activity is to improve pandemic preparedness in South Asia by demonstrating to key stakeholders the importance of pandemic preparedness, emerging disease research and a robust viral surveillance system through a workshop, fieldwork, and a tabletop exercise.
Goal of the Workshop
The goal of the event is to bring experts, stakeholders and decision-makers together to share best practices of emerging zoonotic diseases pandemic preparedness; review support needed to develop zoonotic disease surveillance and research capacity; stimulate inter-country communications; encourage multi-disciplinary collaborations to expand One Health practices in the Region by demonstrating success of PREDICT Nepal.
