Position Title: Consultant – TB Reach Project Support
Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal
Estimated Starting Date: As soon as possible
Type of Appointment: Consultant Contract, 3 months with possibility of extension
Context
IOM Nepal in coordination with National TB Center has been implementing the TB REACH project to cater the TB services for aspiring migrants who are screened for tuberculosis from private pre-departure health assessment centres. However, due to the unprecedented scenario resulted by COVID-19 pandemic, slight amendments had to be done. In this context, to understand the underlying knowledge gap in TB and COVID-19, IOM Nepal is planning to implement the following activities as per the re-programmed activities;
* Conduct TB related activities focusing returnee migrants in Sudurpaschim Province of Nepal.
* Social Medial mobilization on TB.
* Conduct various research activities on TB and migrants.
* Evaluation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Identifying Tuberculosis and COVID-19 Related Signs from Chest X-Ray in Health Facilities in Nepal
Objectives
The overall objective of this assignment is to support IOM in implementing activities of the IOM TB REACH project.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to implement the TB Reach project activities in coordination with Migration Health Team of IOM Nepal and other the target agencies with specific tasks described below;
* Provide overall support in planning and execution of planned activities.
* Provide support in reviewing the research related activities of the TB Reach project.
* Provide technical assistance to implement field activities of the project including necessary support in report writing and development of TB related articles.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
* Master’s Degree in Public Health, Social Science, Development Studies or any other relevant disciplines from an accredited institution with relevant professional experience; or
* Bachelor’s Degree in above field with five years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
* Proven experience in planning, execution of planned activities, field monitoring especially in public health activities including TB related activities.
* Skills on use of statistical analysis software and social research methods.
* Good understanding of migration situations in Nepal and the sub-region (desirable).
* Proven experience in gender analysis/mainstreaming.
* Strong analytical, report writing, editing and communication skills.
* Abilities to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Languages
Fluency in English and Nepali is required.
